Looking Good |

All wood and paints of this piece are original. They come from worn and distressed shelf boards, old blanket boxes, ink-stained printing blocks, kitchen cupboards, etc. and have a slightly "hoe down" look - like colored lanterns around a dance floor. This is my most popular work and one of those few I can reasonably duplicate. They vary in background tone and the colors are pretty random, but the form and flavor stay the same. This is a classic pattern of 16 squares in a large mirror border. It has been refined in detail and proportion several times and the overall feeling is a nice tension between crisp, colorful geometrics and a washed out mellow impression. |
