Porcelain Doll All wood and paints of this piece are original. An 1860 picture frame with glass fronts a box with old yellow wood as a background. A porthole at the top lets in light and the interior has a wood mounted porcelain bulb socket wih a compass in the center. A porcelain doll head and arms form the central figure along with the other elements. These piece is about childhood, the past, and the emotions that evolve from the innocent, startled faces of these antique dolls when beset by the machinery of the world. It is akin to Charlie Chaplins character in Modern Times - man in the machine, literally. This piece can hang on a wall or sit on a flat surface.
